According to details available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the oath-taking ceremony was held after the Jammu and Kashmir Government announced his appointment to the constitutional post. Earlier, the General Administration Department had issued an order appointing retired IAS officer Shantmanu as the State Election Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir. He has been appointed for a tenure of five years or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
